Awnings And Canopies Designed Specifically For Your Home And Business
Aluminum
Awnings or Metal Awnings are used for homes and businesses alike and can be
fashioned in countless styles and sizes as well as in fade-resistant,
rust-resistant material. The biggest benefit of a Metal Awning is life expectancy. Many Aluminum Awnings hold up well for several decades.

Barrel
Awnings look as their name implies, like large barrels on their
sides. These Awnings curve over an
entry or when elongated can be used over windows and more expansive areas.
These Barrel Awnings can be designed
so that they curve in the front with flat sides. However, if designed with the
flat surface facing forward, graphics can be easily applied.

Bubble Awnings or Dome Awnings are classically elegant Awnings that feature a softly
ballooning design that curves outward. The frame is typically aluminum and
covered with fabric and the standard quarter-sphere is most often seen over
smaller doors and windows. The standard Dome
Awning or Bubble Awning is
symmetrical. The height dimension must be the same as the projection dimension. Then the width must be double the height/projection dimension.

Elongated Dome Awnings are the stretched-out versions of their smaller brothers
and are used to cover broader expanses. The sides of both styles are usually
curved.

Canopies – While
many people use the words Canopy and Awning interchangeably, a Canopy is usually defined as being
supported by one or more poles or stanchions while an Awning is not. A Canopy can be either attached to a
building or freestanding and covered in fabric, vinyl or metal. It provides
excellent coverage for large entries, patios and walkways but can be used for
many other purposes as well.

Casement
Awnings are more box-like in shape and
are constructed with enough height, width and depth for a crank-out casement
window to be easily opened and closed. Casement
Awnings can be made from aluminum or fabric.

Custom
Design Awnings and Canopies—While most Awnings are customized for the
purchaser, a Custom-Design Awning or
Canopy is one that is crafted to meet unique specifications and can combine
the design features of one or more Awning
styles.

Drop-Arm or Roll-up Retractable Awnings are excellent for smaller
areas and standard sized windows and doors. They
usually feature a roller at top along with spring-loaded side arms and a motor,
crank or pull system.

Lateral Arm Retractable Awnings, often called Deck Awnings or Patio Awnings, are some of the
most popular Awnings today with homeowners and business owners alike. These versatile Awnings are usually used over patios, decks or porches and can be extended
and retracted as needed for shade. All of these Retractable Awnings come with a manual crank, but many people
choose to motorize them so that they can be easily activated with a remote
control or switch.

Mansard
Awnings and Shed Awnings are very similar and some people use the names
interchangeably. The slight difference between a Shed and a Mansard is
that the Mansard Awning tends to
have a rigid valance and side panels. A Shed
Awning often comes without side panels. Both Mansard Awnings and Shed Awnings are triangular in design, feature
a standard front panel that descends and are those most familiar to people because these Awnings have been around for centuries. They can
be used for windows, entries, porches, patios and more. Most historic
preservation groups insist on the use of these Traditional Awnings, if Awnings
are desired, when restoring 19th century buildings.
Sign Style
or Waterfall Awnings tend to
be taller and have a smaller projection. The top of the Awning can be
rounded or angled, while the face of the Awning
is flat, perfect for graphic application. Sign Style or Waterfall Awnings are
typically found on commercial buildings and many are backlit for eye-catching,
illuminated signage and advertising.
